Description

New Orleans, LA is looking for Structural Bridge Design Engineers

The New Orleans, LA office of Modjeski and Masters is looking for Structural Bridge Design Engineers from Entry Level Engineers through Senior/Experienced Engineers. (Multiple positions available)

As a Structural Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. As a member of our team, you'll be immediately responsible for performing engineering tasks under the careful supervision of established and respected professionals. You'll have opportunities to interact directly with clients, become a valued partner on a variety of high-impact projects, and apply fresh insights at every stage of a bridge's life cycle. Instead of following in the footsteps of others in the bridge services field, you'll be part of a team that is leading the way. Many of our projects result in new techniques and new standards for everyone else to follow.

Requirements

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • At minimum a BS in Civil Engineering from and ABET accredited College or University
  • Entry Level engineers will have a valid EI certification, or in the process of obtaining.
  • Candidates looking for more Senior Level Positions will have a valid Professional Engineering License (PE) in the state of Louisiana.

General Responsibilities of a Structural Bridge Design Engineer:

  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using analysis software.
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans.
  • Provide information for design reports.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field inspections and construction service assignments.
  • Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans.
  • Review and check drawings.
  • Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including: AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.
  • Senior Engineers will take on leadership roles and will be responsible for the delivery of projects, will assist Projects Managers in identifying issues and developing solutions. Senior Engineers will also serve as technical leads on complex projects.
