Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of University Career Services (UCS) is to support the mission of the University and Student Affairs by providing personalized and innovative career education to empower student success and transformation. Our vision is for all UNC-Chapel Hill students to create lives of purpose and prosperity in alignment with their personal goals.

University Career Services serves to educate students on career development and management processes, teach students about competencies needed for success, and make connections between students and employers. UCS collaborates with faculty, employers, and other departments across campus for mutual sharing of information and coordination of programs for student development.
Position Summary
A Sign-On Bonus of $5,000 is available for the successful applicant to be paid in the first month on university payroll. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Under the direction of the Director of Employer Engagement, the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement serves as a member of the Employer Engagement team within University Career Services (UCS). The Assistant Director will serve as a university-wide expert on employer engagement & recruiting and will contribute to the strategic growth of employer relationships. These efforts should increase employment opportunities for all students and alumni, advance UNC's elite brand, and diversify the employment sectors engaging the UNC-CH campus. This role will execute on the Director's vision for employer development, act as a connector across the university to facilitate relationships, grow support for key initiatives and partnerships, and drive results.

The Assistant Director will proactively develop and expand a portfolio of employer relationships, design collaborative interventions & programs, and serve as the UCS lead with key stakeholders and/or offices on campus (e.g., industry relations, alumni affairs, innovation, academic colleges/schools, etc.). This role will also lead some career-related initiatives (ex. recruiting activities, internships/work-based learning, career fairs, mock interviews, employer support for career programming, career treks, etc.), which support employer engagement activities and/or further career education efforts. To achieve this work, the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement will work with UCS leadership, distributed career staff across campus, students, staff, faculty, alumni, and employer representatives.

The Assistant Director will support and participate in activities that will cultivate a campus community that prepares all UNC students for career success. The primary goal will be to develop universal and tailored strategies to reach every UNC student with high quality career education initiatives and to embed career education into the fabric of the university. The Assistant Director of Employer Engagement supports these activities by increasing employment connections for underserved and underemployed student populations, cultivates internship and full-time opportunities, and designs innovation programming with the Career Education Team and campus stakeholders.

The Employer Engagement team will serve as university-wide experts on employer engagement/industry relations, recruiting, and labor market trends. The team will lead University Career Services strategic efforts to engage employers, alumni, and the broader UNC campus in career development activities. This role will strive to advance UNC's elite brand with the employment community, grow & maintain employer relationships, secure work-based learning opportunities, and ultimately connect UNC students to their career aspirations upon graduation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.

* Computer proficiency (specifically Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard career management systems, Handshake)
* Demonstration of adaptability and flexibility in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment; ability to utilize technology to manage and grow employer/alumni/donor relationships.
* Willingness to learn and use new and emerging technologies including social media and online resources.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Master's degree in business, higher education, marketing, human resources, or a related field.
* Minimum three (3) years of experience within career development, experiential education/work-based learning, higher education, human resources, recruiting/talent acquisition, business development, fundraising, or other relevant corporate and community experience.
* Strong ability to collaborate with multiple and diverse constituents to accomplish goals.
* Analytical mind and problem solver with ability to think systemically.
* Demonstration of professional independence, industry knowledge, innovation, critical thinking/judgement skills, communication, presentation, teamwork, and strong time management.
* Knowledge of program evaluation and assessment techniques. Experience with survey design and data analysis is desired.
* Experience leading change and innovation, resulting in a high level of performance outcomes.
* Understanding of career education, career readiness, work-based learning, and/or emerging trends within experiential learning.
* Understanding of business development, relationship development/management, corporate relations, alumni relations, and/or fundraising.
* Working knowledge of online recruiting systems (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.).
* Working knowledge of fundraising/relationship management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud, etc.).
* Valid NC Driver's License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Driver's License.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
